Jan Brown began her art practice as a professional potter in the 1970’s; established Brown’s Pottery in Mount Barker, SA and produced both functional and one-off pieces for the Australian craft market. Her art and craft skills led her to teach and later work in the health field while studying Social Work. Arts in Health continues to be an ongoing interest, however painting has always been a driving passion and today her work reflects her love of landscape, the human figure and still life objects. Her latest work is straddling the line between representation and abstraction.
